Darn pit...

This Friday (11th July) there is a miners convention in Durham... due to interest from a Union exhibiting there, two poems from my book The Ramblings of a Flatcapper have been converted into into posters to go on display at the convention.

Check out their website... go and support them www.num.org.uk/?p=events

Below are the two pages in the book that have been converted to posters...

Sorry they aren't working...

Manifestation...

My Manifesto, enjoy...

M 62... more than a magazine...

...It earned me a First

Overall I got a 2-1 which I am well chuffed about... couldn't be happier, especially as I got the results an hour before I had an interview... went in with the biggest smile on my face ever! But in my final project (M 62) I scored a 78 which is a pretty flattering First.

Well done to everyone who studied at Lincoln School of Art & Design and got their results yesterday... its been a cracker.

Below is images of the M 62 Magazine... and below that will follow a blurb.

Issue 1

Issue 2

The M 62 magazine's ethos is to reach out to today's rebellious youth to give them literature that reads honestly and speaks openly about societies problems, rather than hiding in a world of politically correct bigots.

The final outcome related to old Broadsheet newspaper spreads that would be put up in town centers for people to read and hopefully creating a focal point on which the whole town would enjoy. It was designed to be set in the city of Wakefield... just off the M62 motorway.

Any questions... just ask

ISTD is not a sexual disease...

This month I officially became a Member of the International Society of Typographic Designers through recognition of my achievements in their annual student awards.

Below is an image of the award recognition I got through University and the book that won me it... I'll put up an image of the actual certificate when I have it framed and unrolled.

Band Artwork

Eyup,

Here's some work I did for the now defunct Manic Represser, I did it for a bit of fun to go up on their website, and it ended up looking quite good.

Hey hey... what do you do when your given a brief to promote allotments as cool and get rid of the Arthur Fowler image that haunts them... you make an Ikea catalogue to show the alternative lifestyle of the allotment... obviously.

It was well fun, so here are a few images... some wouldn't work so thats why there's only a couple, if I can get it to work, I will get some more up.

See thi

The Ikea allotment logo, following on from the whole DIY feel with the design.

Eyup!

Eyup, (Hello to those who can't speak Yorkshire lol)

Don't know what you should write in your first blog but here it is...hello!! Expect a few more to come, I have a habit of going on a bit of a rant sometimes.

Anyway, I am Brett, nice to meet you, i am from a little town called Featherstone, near Wakefield in West Yorkshire and I've had a very nice day today, apart from receiving the timetable for the last month or so at uni and realising that we are in the last month or so at uni lol.

So yeah... hellooo blog world.

Brett

Nar then, ISTD, I finished it a while back and passed it, which means I get to have MISTD on the end of my name... thats nice isn't it (even though it sounds like a sexually transmitted disease but anyway).

I designed a book with an aim to highlight the poetic beauty in the my dialect (Yorkshire if you didn't know) through stories and poetry and show this through the presentation and layout alone. The result is what you see below, I hope you enjoy.
